HR System
Broadway Malyan approached Victor Consulting looking for a solution to the manual
creation of a series of HR related reports every month. These were both time intensive
to create and it was easy to make errors transcribing data. There was an existing
HR Package in place but this could not easily be expanded and customised.
Needs Analysis
The Needs Analysis was a very important aspect of the project as all of the HR information
which needed analysing, in addition to the regular, name and address fields had be
identified together with the complex reports required. Report requirements were
two fold - firstly the Board required management reports relating to office location,
job function and benefits and secondly reports relating to job tendering where
completely different parameters are involved.
Development
Initially a Microsoft Access database solution was developed allowing local storage
of the data within the HR team with an easy to use interface for maintaining data
and a number of prescribed reports. Over time many additional reports have been
added either as permanent items in the application or for one off requirements.
The system was then up-sized to a SQL Server database to allow more secure storage
of the data and also wider access to the data from a variety of overseas offices.
An Access run-time application provides the front-end interface.
